01Software for law firms · Live product

Soft.Legal — the system a law firm runs its day on

Law firms juggle clients, active cases, court dates, documents, time spent and invoices — usually across a filing cabinet, a shared drive and someone's memory.

Soft.Legal puts all of it in one subscription product, where a solicitor opens their morning on a single screen and sees what is due today. I built and maintained features across the platform: the tenant architecture that keeps each firm's data separate, card payments through Stripe and PayPal, and document storage wired into Google Drive and Dropbox so files live where the firm already keeps them.

Banking Sentinel — a ledger you can actually trust

Bank transaction data arrives in bulk and arrives dirty: duplicate records, stray whitespace, amounts stored as text, half a dozen date formats. Any report built directly on it is quietly wrong.

Banking Sentinel is the machinery in between. It takes the raw feed and hands back a clean daily ledger — one row per customer, per day. I designed and built all of it: the pipeline, the storage layout that lets you rewind to any earlier version of a table, the overnight scheduler, and a dashboard for reading the results. It runs as a set of containers, so it behaves the same on a laptop as on a server.

7 stages, each saved to disk — so a wrong number can be traced to the exact step.

SmartSyst — one system instead of eight

Shops, restaurants and small businesses tend to accumulate tools: one for the till, a spreadsheet for stock, something else for staff, a notebook for customers.

SmartSyst replaces the pile with a single product covering the whole operation — from the point of sale at the counter to the people, stock and projects behind it. A sale rung up at the till moves stock and updates the customer record at the same time. I built both halves: the interface staff use and the back end holding it together.

8+ modules sharing one set of data — POS, inventory, CRM, HR, projects, restaurant and more.

Moving a company's reporting to a new database without anyone noticing

IDWise verifies people's identities for banks and other businesses. Its reporting sat on a database that was straining as volumes grew, and costing more than it should. The fix was to move to Google BigQuery. The risk was that every dashboard the company relies on was built on the old one.

I led the migration and rewrote every dashboard query and filter for the new database. Then I made the platform harder to break: automatic checks comparing old and new numbers after each load, pipeline tests that run on every code change, 30+ alert rules, and alerts pushed into Slack and Telegram so problems surface in minutes rather than at month end.

200+ charts across 20+ dashboards moved, with no interruption to reporting.

Tripio — planning a trip with other people

A group trip planner: a mobile app people use to organise a trip together, with the service behind it that keeps everyone's plans in sync.

I was the senior engineer on it and built both halves — the app and the back end. Set your preferences and the app builds the itinerary: a custom trip, a map to navigate it, a personalised top ten, and the detail on every stop.

Custom websites, designed and built — and supported afterwards

Alongside engineering work I design and build websites for businesses directly: storefronts, brochure sites and landing pages, made to fit the brand rather than a template. Ongoing support and changes included, so the site doesn't go stale a month after launch.

Three custom website designs side by side: a furniture store, a fashion retailer and a menswear brand.
